Project - Calldysc

‘Collaborative Additional Language Learning for Dyslexics’

The European Dyslexia Association is a partner in this exciting project about teaching English as a second language.

The project uses expertise from across Europe to develop an abbreviated curriculum for delivery through the phone and pilot study results clearly show a strong need for this.

The project uses rigorous research methods with pre- and post-testing of the pupils, before introducing them to the main components, which are vocabulary building, reading, syntax and grammar, and writing at length. In this case, real achievement for the writing at length will be considered to be around 160 characters, which is one long text message.

The project uses all the latest Web 2.0 methods to engage the youths, including personal moblogs (mobile blogs) and social networking.

User groups in Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Sweden and Wales will be evaluating the system in early 2008, and will be reporting at the EDA International Conference in Luxembourg, and the BDA International Conference in March 2008 in the UK.
